Chapter 1179 held its quartler street clean-up on June 7, 2008 and other groups from Buckley AFB, such as the 566 IS, ALS students, etc. came out to support the effort. The combined effort had around 39 people pick up trash along the 1-mile streatch that AFSA Chapter 1179 sponsors.

SMSgt (Ret) Robert Price of the Air Force Sergeants Association presented a Legislative update to members of Buckley AFB on May 21, 2008.  His briefing covered topics ranging from the ongoing debate over a better GI Bill, the threat to the Tricare premiums for retirees, raising the limit of leave to be carried over to a 3.9% pay raise for 2009.  Representatives from AFSA are going to all Chapters to give these briefings and make sure everyone is awae of AFSA's efforts on Capital Hill. Pictured with Mr. Price is SMSgt Jon Rossetti, President of AFSA Chapter 1179.
