In one of the largest gatherings Chapter 1179 has seen in years, over 70 people from Team Buckley attended a catered banquet as the Claude Klobus chapter selected SrA Meagan Lemery of the 566th Information Operations Squadron, as their 2005 First Term Airman of the Year.
“The selection process was very difficult. All of the nominees were very deserving of the award and recognition,” CMSgt Tom Houdek, Senior Enlisted Leader of the Aerospace Data Facility (ADF), said. “Their confidence, poise and presence were clearly evident. For me, the process was a refreshing reminder of the high caliber of young talent we have in today's Air Force."
Chief Houdek served as one of the members of the FTAY board, along with CMSgt Rene Simard, 460th Space Wing Command Chief, SMSgt Amy Cook, First Sergeant, Air Reserve Personnel Center, and MSgt Kevin Hale, Chapter 1179 President.
This year’s banquet was highlighted by Colonel Cary Chun, ADF Commander. He spoke on the importance of today’s airmen, especially as it pertains to our country’s War on Terrorism.
Also, this year’s FTAY banquet was made even better by the contributions of Portland Cohen of Status Engraving, who donated the FTAY award plaque, the Buckley Main Exchange, who donated a $100 gift card, and Deanne Funkhouser of USAA, who donated a medallion to the winner.
