Cadet Technical Sergeant Daniel G. La of the Evergreen Composite Squadron, Colorado Wing Civil Air Patrol was award the AFSA Leadership Award in an award ceremony on June 4, 2007. Presenting the award was Chapter 1179's President, MSgt (ret) David A. Bamburg.
Cadet La has rapidly advanced through the CAP Cadet Program since joining in January of 2006. He has not only accomplished every achievement and promotion at well above the average pace, but also, has demonstrated a willingness to seek out challenging tasks and more responsibility. As a basic cadet at the Colorado Wing Encampment in June of 2006, Cadet La was highly rated by his Cadet Flight Commander on his required evaluation. He was assigned to the position of Guidon Bearer for his flight. His commander wrote that Cadet La is a natural leader and the other cadets in the squadron look up to him as a role model. He is actively involved in all squadron activities and in Emergency Services.
Cadet La is in good standing academically and participates in school activities. The Cadet Commander recognized Cadet La's leadership ability and recently selected him for a Flight Sergeant position.
Cadet La is a very impressive young man. Although he is quiet, respectful, and humble he projects a powerful presence. Cadet La exhibits outstanding military bearing, immaculate personal grooming, and is courteous at all times. His attitude, personal demeanor, and willingness to mentor younger cadets are particular strong traits. He always sets a high standard and example for others to emulate.
As Cadet La's commanding officer, I take great pleasure and pride in placing his name in nomination for the Air Force Sergeants' Association award for outstanding CAP Cadet NCO.
Sincerely,
FLOYD B MCCORMICK, Captain, CAP
Commander
