CMSgt (Ret) Bob Tomlinson entered the United States Air Force on 12 October 1973 as a Personnel Specialist. He served 26 ½ years in the Personnel Career Field in a wide variety of assignments at ConUS bases in New Mexico, Florida and Colorado and overseas in West Germany, The Netherlands and again in Germany. He attended all three levels of Enlisted Professional Military Education earning Distinguished Graduate, Commandants and Military Studies awards. He was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant on 1 February 1997 and retired at Buckley Air National Guard Base (now Buckley Air Force Base), Colorado on 1 July 2000.
Chief Tomlinson’s affiliation with the Air Force Sergeant’s Association began in May 1983 with Chapter 1681 at Zweibrucken Air Base, West Germany, as a Chapter Trustee. He was Chapter 557 Vice President and Trustee during his seven year assignment at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida and as Vice President and then President for Chapter 1179, Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado until May 2002. He has been a Division 11 officer since 1997, first as 3rd Trustee and then as Division 11 President from 2000 to 2001. He is currently Division 11 5th Trustee and Treasurer and is also the Senior Advisor for Chapter 1179. He was selected as Division 11 AFSA Member of the Year for 1999 and Chapter 1179 was the Large Chapter of the Year for 1999 while Chief Tomlinson was the Chapter President.
Chief Tomlinson has continued his association with the Air Force in his current job as a Procurement Specialist with the 460th Contracting Squadron, Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado. He is married to MSgt (Ret) Sandy Tomlinson and they have one daughter, Denise Mitchell, son-in-law, Brian, and two grandchildren, Kelsey and Gavin, who all live in Aurora, Colorado.
