Master Sergeant (Ret) David A. Bamburg
Master Sergeant Bamburg, upon his retirement, was the 460th Space Wing’s Supt of Information Management in the Wing Commander’s office. During his 2 years at Buckley AFB, he was served in the Top-3, and helped organize Wing events. He is an active member of AFSA Chapter 1179 since his arrival in 2004, serving as Vice-President from 2005-2006, and as President from 2006-2008. Master Sergeant Bamburg also created the chapter’s first website, which was selected as AFSA 2004 Chapter Website of the Year.
MSgt Bamburg first entered the Air Force in 1984, enlisting in Shreveport, LA. After completing basic training and the Security Police Tech School, he was sent to Barksdale AFB, right next to his home town. A year later, due to hearing loss, he crosstrained to the Billeting career field. Ironically, two years later, then Sergeant Bamburg would crosstrain into the B-1B Avionics career field, which was back on the flightline. For the next seven years he would be stationed at Ellsworth AFB, SD.
In 1995, Staff Sergeant Bamburg would once again be forced to crosstrain, this time due to cuts in the B-1B manning. He would take on his final career field, Information Management. Over the next 11 ½ years, Technical Sergeant, and then Master Sergeant Bamburg would excel in Information Management. Throughout such assignments as New Mexico, South Korea, Operation Southern Watch in Saudi Arabia, Tennessee, and two assignments in Colorado, he would leave his mark. He received such awards as NCO of the Quarter for the squadron and the Group, Military Member of the Quarter, Military Entrance Processing Command’s Communication and Information Award Winner, SNCO of the Year, Wing Staff, and a STEP to Master Sergeant.
David Bamburg currently works as an Administrative Assistant, still at Buckley AFB, CO. He is currently the Legislative Trustee for Division 11, and helps to maintain the websites for both Division 11 and Chapter 1179. David and his family, his wife of 18 years, Maureen (Marny), son Patrick, 13 and daughter Ashley, 11, live in Denver, CO. Besides is involvement with AFSA and local base activities, David also maintains the website for the 7th Fighter Squadron Reunion Organization, a group of people dating back to WW II.
