Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 1179, and its Auxiliary Chapter A1179, represent the Air Force enlisted men and women of Buckley AFB, the surrounding Denver area, and much of Northern Colorado. Chapter 1179, renamed the Claude Klobus Chapter in 1999, after Past AFSA International President Claude Klobus, was originally formed at Lowry AFB almost 30 years ago.
Chapter 1179 is involved in many base activities, such as monthly Airman/NCO Enhancement Courses, sponsors the Airman Leadership School's Academic Award, and various base projects. In the Community, the Chapter performs a quarterly street clean-up near the base, frequently visits the Denver Veterans Home, sponsors CAP and AFJROTC activities, and leads the annual 460 SW POW/MIA ceremony.
